Tractor-Trailer Crash Causes Delays On Inner Loop Of Beltway

A tractor trailer jackknifed and had a gas leak in the Silver Spring area of the Inner Loop of the Beltway Friday morning, officials said.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A tractor trailer jackknifed in the Silver Spring area of the Inner Loop of the Beltway Friday morning and caused serious delays, officials said.

The truck jackknifed between Connecticut and Georgia avenues around 3:30 a.m. There was a fuel spill involved, so hazmat crews were called to the scene, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said.

Three lanes were shut down, but have since reopened.

It's unclear what caused the incident or if anyone was hurt. Maryland State Police was called to the scene.
