Since the college’s start in 1970, Middlesex Community College has been a leader of adapting to the changing demands of higher education, from incorporating online and hybrid course offerings into the curriculum to staying updated on relevant workforce trends. For the Spring 2022 semester, MCC is once again rising to the challenge of meeting students where they are.

“The pandemic has changed how we learn, work and live, and students need options that are flexible, affordable and convenient to fit into their schedules,” said Phil Sisson, MCC’s President. “In response, MCC has enhanced the college’s online and hybrid courses and student support services – and continues to increase its on-campus offerings – in order to best meet the needs of our students and prepare them for transfer or the workforce of the future.”

MCC’s Spring 2022 semester features a WinterSession, a traditional 15-week semester, and two accelerated eight-week Mini-mester sessions. With several options to begin classes throughout the semester, students have the opportunity to get a head start, complete general education requirements, and earn transferable college credits.

Offering over 80 programs of study, Middlesex helps students identify what they want to pursue for their major and career. With seven pathways from which to choose – Art and Humanities, Business, Education, Health, Public Service, Social Science and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) – students can earn an associate degree or certificate that will help them transfer to a four-year institution or prepare them to enter the workforce.

As a community leader and partner in Bedford, Lowell and the surrounding areas, MCC makes Service-Learning, internship and career opportunities more accessible to students. Whether interning for a class, networking with alumni and professionals, or connecting with employers at career events, MCC helps students figure out how to go from their major to their future jobs.

The college can also help students start a new career and become workforce ready with noncredit options. Students can engage in professional development courses to update their skills, build a resume or portfolio, and better understand what employers are seeking when hiring employees.

Starting at Middlesex can save students thousands of dollars on tuition costs. With the flexibility of course formats, students are also more easily able to finish their studies while managing job, family and other personal responsibilities. For students who have completed prior learning and work experiences, MCC helps them get credit for what they have already done.

Financial aid is eligible for the WinterSession and Spring 2022 semester for those who qualify. Visit www.middlesex.mass.edu/financialaid/ for more information on how to apply for financial aid at Middlesex, including by filling out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
