Community College’s WinterSession. Both current Middlesex and other four-year college students home for the winter break can get an early start on the Spring 2022 semester by completing general education requirements at a more affordable price.

“Both public and private colleges are often willing to transfer in general education courses from Middlesex that will count toward humanities, behavioral science, social science, mathematics and science electives in a student’s program,” said Camille Brown, MCC’s Director of Admissions & Recruitment. “Students interested in taking a WinterSession course or accelerated summer classes with MCC should check with their school on the best courses to take and transfer.”

Students can also take advantage of MCC’s WinterSession to help them complete an additional major or minor of study. By completing general education courses at Middlesex, the students can focus on their areas of concentration at their four-year school.

Brown’s own daughter Olivia Brown graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with two bachelor’s degrees in four years with assistance from the credits she was able to earn during MCC’s WinterSessions and Summer semesters. “MCC is the best,” she said, “without them I wouldn’t have been able to graduate with two degrees within four years.”

Part of the Spring 2022 semester, MCC’s WinterSession starts on Monday, January 3. The intensive session covers the same content, maintains the same academic standards, and contains the same number of in-class instructional hours as courses scheduled during the traditional 15-week semester.

Students with MCC credits who are attending or planning to attend one of Massachusetts’ nine state universities or five University of Massachusetts campuses can transfer with a C-minus or higher. Students at private schools must check with their institution’s requirements.

Taking classes as part of MCC’s WinterSession also saves students money on tuition costs – students pay only $252 per credit. To make MCC’s WinterSession and Spring semester courses more convenient and flexible, students can choose to take on-campus, hybrid and online courses.

Qualifying students may also apply for financial aid during MCC’s WinterSession. Visit www.middlesex.mass.edu/finanicalaid/ to learn how to fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Please note that Middlesex requires all students to be vaccinated in order to come to campus, as of January 2022. Students who are unvaccinated can still choose to take online classes and access online resources and student support services.

Registration is now open for the WinterSession and Spring 2022 semesters. For more information, visit www.middlesex.mass.edu/registration/ or call 1-800-818-3434.
