What's Open, Closed on Patriots' Day in Bedford

Monday is Patriots' Day, a state holiday but not a federal holiday. Find out what to expect open and closed on the holiday.

BEDFORD, MA - Patriots' Day is Monday, April 18 here in Massachusetts. Patriots' Day marks the the Battles of Lexington and Concord and the start of the Revolutionary War. It's also Marathon Monday.

Here's a handy list of what's open (and closed) during the holiday:

  • Retail stores: Most open
  • Supermarkets, liquor stores and convenience stores: Open
  • Bars and restaurants: Open
  • Stock market: Open
  • Bedford Town Offices: Closed
  • State offices: Closed
  • Federal offices: Open
  • Bedford Public Library: Closed
  • Bedford Public Schools: Closed. Monday marks the beginning of school vacation week.
  • Trash: Trash Collection will delayed until Tuesday, April 19,
  • Post office: Open
  • MBTA: All subway lines operating on regular weekday schedule with added service before and after the Marathon. On Marathon Monday, various bus routes on both the North and South sides will be detoured. Due to congestion, bikes are not allowed on any MBTA vehicles on Patriots' Day.
