Allston's Iconic Silhouette Lounge Is Reopening

ALLSTON, MA — The Silhouette Lounge - a true staple of Allston is making a comeback this week.

While the COVID-19 pandemic forced a premature closure of some of Allston's other dive bars, (R.I.P. to the Model and Deep Ellum), dive bar enthusiasts can still flock to The Sil starting Friday, March 18.

Reopening with its original staff members, the Sil has made some minor cosmetic repairs, but everything else will remain exactly as you last left it, even down to the free popcorn.

Once recognized as "Best Dive Bar" by Boston Magazine and the Improper Bostonian, the Sil has been a watering hole to locals, college students, and regulars since it first opened in 1965. With a dart room, neon signs, a pool table, and a back patio, patrons come from all over to hang out with friends and enjoy a cheap pint.

Joseph Eliseo joined the Sil the same year it opened as a bartender, eventually buying the lounge in 1979. Though Eliseo retired last year following his 80th birthday, his vision and legacy will stay intact as The Silhouette enters its next chapter.

The Sil's foundation will remain its rotating beer list of favorites offered by draught and bottles. Highlights from the opening menu include Wormtown, Sam Adams Seasonal, Narragansett, and Dogfish Head on draught, while bottles cover the classics like Budweiser, Corona, and Coors Light as well as Guinness, Magners and Naraggansett tallboys.

Silhouette Lounge will be open Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. as well as Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The Silhouette Lounge is located at 200 Brighton Avenue in Allston.
