Meet one of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay's Waiting Little of The Month, Jenser!

Boston, Massachusetts – April 8, 2019- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay, one of the nation’s leading one-to-one mentoring programs for youth and the largest Big Brothers Big Sisters affiliate in New England, is making a real difference in the lives of over 3,200 children in Eastern Massachusetts. This National Volunteer Week, the agency hopes to match Jenser and ‘L’ each with Big Brothers. Both have been on the wait list due to a shortage of male volunteers in the Eastern Massachusetts area.

Jenser is eleven years old and lives in Jamaica Plain. He is a positive kid who loves his family and friends and enjoys talking to others. Jenser likes to play video games, especially WWE. He enjoys watching wrestling, and his favorite wrestler is John Cena. Jenser needs a Big so he has more opportunities to get out and try different activities. The best fit for him would be a Spanish-speaking Big who likes hanging out, exploring different activities, and is open to learn more about WWE.

‘L’ is a twelve year old from Roslindale who loves animals, especially dogs. He also loves mythical creatures, sports, cars, Monster Trucks, football and pizza. ‘L’ is a goofball and loves to tell jokes. It’s important for “L” to have a Big Brother that serves as a positive male role model in his first year of middle school as he explores interests and discovers who he is.

“Jenser and ‘L’ are not alone. As our service territory continues to expand, so does the number of kids we serve. Unfortunately, the number of youth on our wait list also increases,” said Terry McCarron, Vice President of Program Services at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay. “We need just as many volunteers as we have youth; no child should have to wait for a Big.”

There are more than 200 children throughout JP, Roslindale and surrounding towns who are waiting to be matched with mentors. If you are interested in learning more about how to become a mentor, please visit www.massbaybigs.org. Please also consider sharing our Littles’ stories to help them and other kids on the wait list find Bigs!
