Boston Breaks Nearly 40-Year Temperature Record
Another temperature record has fallen in Boston during a long stretch of heat.
BOSTON, MA — Boston has broken another high temperature record amid a long period of unpleasant heat in recent days.
The city hit 98 degrees on Monday afternoon, erasing a high temperature record for Aug. 8 set in 1983 at 96 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
The Boston area also set a temperature record on Aug. 4 when Logan Airport record 97 degrees, barely breaking the record for that day set in 1928 at 96 degrees.

The heat will continue into Tuesday, but Boston may not break another record. The high temperature record for Aug. 9 was set in 1949 when the thermometer hit 99 degrees. Tuesday's heat index will get that high, but the actual temperature will like max out somewhere in the mid-90s.
Temperatures will drop into the mid 70s by Wednesday and stay in that range into the weekend, according to AccuWeather.
