BOSTON — After years of controversy and uncertainty, Boston is officially getting its first Chick-fil-A location in just a matter of weeks.

"It's our pleasure to confirm we will be opening a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Boston at 569 Boylston St. this winter," the company said in a statement. "We look forward to joining the community and to serving all of our guests delicious food in an environment of genuine hospitality."

This decision comes almost ten years after the late Boston Mayor Thomas Menino said he would block the fast-food chain from entering the city when CEO Dan Cathy spoke out against gay marriage in 2012, while making financial contributions to organizations that oppose same-sex marriage.
