FCP Live-in helps many with dementia stay with loved ones
When COVID restrictions stopped Brian Weeks from visiting his mother at her nursing home, he turned to FCP Live-In home care for help!

Brian Weeks liked to visit his mother, Kathleen, regularly at her nursing home. But, the COVID-19 outbreak turned things upside down for the Boston area resident and his mom, who has dementia.
Visitation at the nursing home was severely restricted, which meant that Weeks could no longer see his mom. Weeks knew he had to find another way to make sure that she was safe. So, Weeks considered moving his mom out of the nursing home and hiring a live-in caregiver. But, because his mom has dementia, Weeks wasn't sure if this would be the right thing to do.

"I had no idea what to expect when hiring a live-in caregiver for my Mom," Weeks explained. "The needs of a dementia patient evolve day by day and hour by hour, making it impossible to predict who would be a good fit."

More than 6 million Americans live with Alzheimer's, a progressive brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills. Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia.
As dementia progresses, the roles of caregivers change, from initially offering support to later providing a greater level of care, according to the Alzheimer's Association.
FCP Live-In caregivers are trained in helping clients through each stage of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. What is FCP Live-In?

All of the company's in-home caregivers are nurse's aides, home health aides, and personal care aides with at least two years of professional experience.
FCP Live-In has a rigorous hiring process. Caregiver applicants go through extensive state and federal background checks, and all are bonded and insured. In addition, applicants must undergo multiple interviews and take personality profile and skills assessments to ensure they will be a good fit for a live-in care position.
