Food For Free and The Broadway South Boston Tap into Charitable Spirit

Proceeds from the Limited-Edition Sunset Spritz Cocktail will Support the Nonprofit's Year-Round Food Rescue and Redistribution Efforts

Food For Free and The Broadway South Boston are ready to quench your thirst to end hunger. On June 4, the organizations will launch the Sunset Spritz, a limited-edition charitable cocktail to support the nonprofit’s year-round food rescue and distribution efforts across Eastern Massachusetts, as part of the venue’s “Locks for Locals” program.

“We are thrilled to partner with The Broadway South Boston through their Locks For Locals program” says Eliza McDonough, Manager of Events and Special Initiatives at Food For Free. “Funds raised through this partnership will help Food For Free continue to deliver nutritious food to residents in Eastern Masscahusetts who need it most, and we are thankful for The Broadway South Boston for supporting us in our mission.”

The signature “Locks for Locals” cocktail is a sunset spritz made with Rosé infused vodka, Aperol, Giffard creme de Pamplemousse Rose, lemon, and sparkling wine and is garnished with fresh fruit. For every “Locks for Locals” sold, a portion of sales will go directly to Food For Free. This charitable spirit is available on the menu now through the end of the summer at The Broadway South Boston.

“The Broadway South Boston Locks for Locals started in 2017 as our way of building a community within our four walls and giving back to the community that consistently supports us. Locks for Locals features a specialty cocktail on The Broadway's menu, with proceeds from each sale going to a local charity. Each cocktail purchase comes with a lock for guests to hang around the restaurant, symbolizing their contribution.” says Sarah Gibbons, General Manager of The Broadway South Boston. “By participating in Locks for Locals, you are supporting local businesses, non-profits, and the broader Boston community. This quarter, The Broadway is proud to partner with Food for Free, an organization dedicated to fostering community support and ensuring our neighbors never go without.”

Food For Free is one of the oldest food rescue organizations in the nation. Founded in 1981, Food For Free now serves more than 150,000 Massachusetts residents facing food insecurity and distributes 6.2 million pounds of nutritious fresh and prepared foods annually.
