MELROSE, MA — Officials are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect they say vandalized a house in Melrose and three houses in New Hampshire.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Melrose Chief of Police Michael Lyle released a photo Thursday of a suspect throwing a brick through the window of the victim's Melrose home. The suspect is also accused of spray painting obscenities on the house.

The suspect may have targeted the woman who lives in the Melrose house because of her reporting work for a New Hampshire media outlet, CBS reported.

The homes of the victim's parents and boss in New Hampshire were also vandalized, officials said. DA Ryan said she couldn't say with certainty whether the incidents were related but said all three involved a brick and red spray paint.

None of the occupants of the four homes were present when the vandalisms occurred.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 5'10", with a slender build. The photo shows him wearing a blue rain jacket.

The Middlesex DA’s Office and Melrose Police are working with the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office to investigate the string of vandalisms.

They're asking anyone who recognizes the suspect to call the Melrose Police Department at 781-665-1212.
