The Stone House in Roxbury, caring for and protecting adult and child survivors of domestic abuse, and helping them rebuild safe, secure, independent lives of purpose and self-fulfillment, has promoted Alicia Settles to Chief Program Officer.

In her new role, Settles will be responsible for continuing to develop the services required by the clients of Stone House, speak for and lead the organization, invent new programming, as well as implement complex systems and manage business relationships with a wide variety of Stone House stakeholders.

Settles is uniquely qualified for this job having held a variety of positions at the organization since joining it in 2005. She began her Stone House career in 2005 as Intern and Volunteer Coordinator. Since then, she has taken on roles with increasing responsibility, including Family Empowerment Specialist, Efforts to Outcomes Site Administrator, Family Advocate, and most recently, Supervisor of Case Management.

“I have worked at Stone House since graduating college and have seen the growth of the organization and the success stories of the people we serve firsthand,” said Alicia Settles. “I’m honored to be promoted to serve as the Chief Program Officer for Stone House and look forward to carrying on the tradition of creating innovative programming that meets the needs of the clients we serve.”

“It was an easy decision to promote Alicia to the role of Chief Program Officer,” said Nancy Owens Hess, Chief Executive Officer, Stone House. “No one understands Stone House better than Alicia, having been an integral part of our work family for over eighteen years. I’m confident she will successfully help lead the organization into the future.”

Settles, who lives in Hyde Park, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and sociology from Simmons College.
