Where To Eat And Drink This Weekend: Oktoberfest Edition

Grab a beer and a bite at one of these great Boston breweries this weekend.

You might not be in Munich this weekend, but that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate your own version of Oktoberfest here in Boston. After all, Boston has an ever growing number of breweries and it has become one of the top destinations for beer geeks across the country. We’ve got microbreweries, big beer halls, and even a spot where you can make your own custom brew. Enjoy some beer and grub at one of these great Boston-area spots.

Harpoon Brewery
Situated on the Boston waterfront for more than 30 years, Harpoon is an iconic Boston brewery that has become a hot spot known for its events — from Flannel Fridays to Harpoonfest, you’ll always find a big crowd here on the weekends. Stop by their Beer Hall for fresh Harpoon and pretzels or stop by your local liquor store to try their new limited release, Harpoon Dunkin’ Coffee Porter.

Mystic Brewery
This brewery is beloved by beer geeks, casual drinkers and even your four legged friends (their taproom is dog-friendly!). You can visit Mystic Brewery's taproom in Chelsea, and soon enough, you’ll be able to visit their sister location in Malden, which is expected to open before the end of the year.

Hopsters Brewery
Having trouble finding a beer that’s just right for you? Try making your own brew at Hopsters Brewery in the Seaport, Boston’s only custom craft brewery. Their Brewmasters will walk you through the beer-making process, and you can enjoy a bite to eat while you wait — soft pretzels, lobster grilled cheese, flatbreads, and more.

Remnant Brewing
If you’re looking for some great food to pair with your beer, stop by Somerville’s Bow Market for a beer at Remnant Brewing and a snack at one of the market’s many food vendors. From empanadas at Buenas, to pizza at Hot Box, to pierogies at Jaju Pierogi, you’ll find something for everyone.

SoWa Beer Barn
Make a trip to SoWa’s Beer Barn before the open market season closes at the end of this month. If you make it there this Sunday, you’ll find them celebrating Oktoberfest with a selection of German beers, a local German band, and fresh pretzels from Boston Pretzel.
