BROOKLINE, MA — Six members of the Brookline Police Department were promoted July 2.

Among those promoted was patrol officer Megan Keaveney who is the youngest woman to be promoted to her position in the history of the department, according to Massachusetts Association of Women in Law Enforcement.

Keaveney joined the Brookline Police Department in 2016. She is a lifelong resident of Brookline and graduated from Brookline High School in 2009. Her father retired from the department after 37 years, and her sister is also in the department.

Among those who were promoted after several Brookline police officers retired in the past year:

  • Lt. Richard Allen to deputy superintendent
  • Lt. Jennifer Paster to deputy superintendent
  • Sgt. Charles Thornton to lieutenant
  • Sgt. llya Gruber to lieutenant
  • Patrol Officer Robert M. Collins to sergeant
  • Patrol Officer Megan Keaveney to sergeant
