Alan P. Jones, Lifelong Charlestown Resident

Alan P. Jones, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at his home in Charlestown following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was 67 years old.

Alan was born in Boston on May 20, 1946, a son of the late Maurice Jones and Alice (Mair) Jones. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system. Alan enlisted into the United States Army on Nov. 30, 1964 and served his country with courage and honor during the Vietnam Conflict. He was discharged on Nov. 29, 1967 with the rank of Specialist-5. Alan worked for more than 20 years as the facility manager at Charles New-Towne in Charlestown. He enjoyed the special times with his family and adored his grandchildren.

Alan was the beloved husband of 34 years to Joanne M. (Burhoe) Jones. He is the devoted Papa to Janell McMaster and her husband Daniel, Alan Howard, Joseph Burhoe and his wife Molly, John Bowden and his wife Jessica, Daniel Bowden and his wife Michelle and Shannon Cain and her husband Kevin. He is the loving Papa to 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of Daniel, Fred, Tom, Paul, Alice Young and the late Catherine Vaughn and Maurice Jones.

Alan's Funeral was on Monday, Jan. 6, from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown following his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 9:30 A.M. Burial was private.
