4-Alarm Fire Destroys Large Home In Concord

Firefighters from Sudbury, Wayland and 11 other departments helped put out of the fire Tuesday.

CONCORD, MA — A four-alarm fire destroyed a large home in Concord Tuesday, and drew a response from 11 fire departments across the region.

The fire broke out just after 4:30 p.m. at a home along Bartkus Farm Road just south of the Carlisle town line.

"Companies arrived to find heavy fire showing from an approximately 9,700-square-foot home and immediately struck a second and third alarm. A fourth alarm was later struck to bring additional manpower to the scene," the Concord Fire Department reported.

No one was home at the time of the fire, but one firefighter was treated during the fight due to heat exhaustion. Temperatures were in the 90-degree range during the blaze.

Firefighters from Sudbury, Wayland, Acton, Boxborough, Maynard, Lexington, Carlisle, Littleton, Lincoln, Weston, Burlington, Bedford and the U.S. Air Force all responded to help put out the fire. Firefighters from Weston and Stow covered Concord while the fire was burning.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation as of Tuesday night.
