$44,000 EEC Grant Yields New Stepping Stones Preschool Playground

The New Playground will be Dedicated on Friday, Oct. 7 at 11:45 AM

Danvers, MA -- The North Shore’s beloved Stepping Stones Preschool -- at All Saints Episcopal Church -- ushers in a banner 2022-’23 school year as it welcomes 32 new students, ages 2.9 to 5, into its vibrant, caring, and stimulating learning environment that now features a beautiful new playground. The playground will be dedicated -- complete with ribbon cutting -- to “Stepping Stones students past, present and future,” on Friday, October 7 at 11:45 AM with enrolled students and their families in attendance.

The new playground – an inviting play space designed to promote a healthy mind/body experience for preschoolers, offers creative, safe, age-appropriate climbing, crawling, swinging, jumping, spinning, and running opportunities that stimulate children cognitively and physically, according to Stepping Stones Preschool Director, Georgette DiChicco.

Designed by TM Landscaping of Hamilton, MA, the playground was funded through a $44,000 grant awarded to the preschool by the Massachusetts Department of Early Childhood Education and Care.

The playground boasts newly installed multicolored Jellybean rubber mulch, a non-toxic, long-lasting alternative to other playground surfaces with the highest fall safety rating, and Shawgrass, an aesthetically pleasing synthetic outdoor turf that completes the landscaping.

“We are so grateful that we could turn the space into an appealing, more up-to-date outdoor experience for our students, says Director DiChicco. “We have big plans for all of the outdoor learning adventures that will utilize this space in its finished state. The biggest reward? The children absolutely love it!” she says. “Feel free to have a peek if you get a chance!”
