Danvers will be doing more than just flipping a switch at its annual tree lighting with a full night of fun planned to celebrate the season. The event is set to begin at 4 p.m. on Dec. 2 and will include a holiday parade, entertainment and a Candy Cane Hunt at Plains Park.

The expanded tree lighting event is planned in conjunction with Danvers FalconFest, a local nonprofit whose mission is to bring back community events to the town.

FalconFest is also working on a Christmas tree bonfire for January and a return of the town fireworks for Aug. 11, 2024.

Danvers police officers will be looking to fill a cruiser with gifts for those in need this weekend with the "Cram-a-Cruiser" event at Target on Dec. 2. Those who can't make it to Target but still want to donate gifts can do so at the police station through Dec. 15.

Those wishing to pay Santa a special visit can do so daily at the Northshore Mall in Peabody.
