The shop at a former salon at 156 Andover Street would be the first Massachusetts location of the nationwide franchise.

Manager Cindy VerColen said Clean Eatz will be a "healthy, quick-serve cafe and meal-planning business" that will prepare and sell meals to go as well as offer a 14-seat on-site cafe at 156 Andover Street.

DANVERS, MA — The first Massachusetts Clean Eatz location of a nationwide franchise of healthy meal-planning services and cafes is being planned for a former salon on Route 114 in Danvers.

The Danvers Select Board on Tuesday approved North Reading resident Cindy VerColen's application for a common victualler license for 156 Andover Street.

VerColen said Clean Eatz will be a "healthy, quick-serve cafe and meal-planning business" that will prepare and sell meals to go as well as offer a 14-seat on-site cafe with similar nutritious offerings.

She told the Select Board the hours are planned to be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and closing at 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. She said similar Clean Eatz spots serve about 40 customers dining in person per day.

The Clean Eatz website says that it was founded in 2011 to offer "healthy food options that perfectly balance protein, carb, and fat intake, allowing customers to eat confidently, knowing
that each bite is helping them meet their health and fitness goals."

The site said that all meals are dietician approved and can be customized to fit keto, gluten-free, high-protein and vegetarian diets.

Clean Eatz said there are more than 85 locations spread across 20 states nationwide with the Danvers location listed as "coming soon."

VerColen told the Select Board that she has signed a lease for the location and plans to begin build-out construction of the former salon space in May. She said she is hoping that the Clean Eatz cafe will be open sometime in August.
