DANVERS, MA — Danvers Curriculum Director and former Salem teacher Peter DiMauro will be the Danvers High School principal when the new school year begins in the coming weeks.

DiMauro replaces Adam Federico, who resigned on Aug. 7 to become the assistant superintendent in Lynnfield Public Schools.

"We are confident in Peter’s ability to lead Danvers High through this transition," Danvers Superintendent Dan Bauer said on Friday. "He brings steady leadership as well as a strong understanding of the DHS school community. He has the support of the DHS administrative team and the district leadership team."

DiMauro has also worked as a science teacher and assistant principal at DHS after teaching in Salem for eight years.

"I'm humbled, excited and feel privileged about this opportunity," DiMauro said. "I'm appreciative for the work that I was able to partner with Adam on the last few years. I'm looking forward to continuing to support our teachers and students and providing students the opportunity to explore what they’re interested and passionate about."

Bauer said Federico will be assisting in the transition as well as preparations for the start of the school year.

"We fully expect the opening of school to run smoothly and to have a successful school year," Bauer said. "While we are sad to see Adam leave, we are very happy for him to have the opportunity to take this next step in his educational leadership career."
