Danvers High's Arianna Bezanson Named D2 Player Of The Year

The Eastern Mass. Girls Soccer Association chose the Danvers High senior star for the high honor.

DANVERS, MA — Danvers High soccer star Arianna Bezanson is a two-time All-American after the Eastern Massachusetts Girls Soccer Association announced the Colgate University-bound senior as All-American, All-New England and All-State First Team Eastern Mass.

The EMGSCA also selected Bezanson as its Division 2 Player of the Year.

Teammate Gabby Chisolm, who last week signed her National Letter of Intent to play at Saint Anselm, was chosen as First Team All-State Eastern Mass.

The Danvers girls soccer team advanced to the state quarterfinals this past weekend before dropping a 2-1 decision to Silver Lake. Lightning delayed the game in the second half with the Falcons down one and they were not able to get the equalizer when play resumed.

Danvers High saw two other tournament runs come to an end late this week when the field hockey team lost to Westwood, 2-1, in double overtime in the Division 2 state quarterfinals and the football team was eliminated from the Division 4 state football playoff with a 39-14 loss to Duxbury in the quarterfinals.

The Danvers boys cross country team raced to second place at Saturday's Division 2B in Gardner and advanced to All-States.

Senior Makonnen Eon was second-place overall in the race in 16 minutes, 30 seconds with senior Kevin Rogers a few steps behind in third in 16:52.

The Danvers High cheer squad is headed to States after qualifying at this week's Regionals.
