Danvers 'Purple Building' To Close After More Than 40 Years

Light 'N Leisure is closing the iconic Danvers location in an effort to focus on online and phone-order retail.

DANVERS, MA — Changing times could mean changing colors in Danvers as "The Purple Building" home of Light 'N Leisure is set to close.

The retailer said on Friday that it was closing its North Shore location "while solidifying their commitment to bringing top-quality lighting and ceiling fans at the absolute lowest prices possible to their customers."

"After 40+ years in Danvers the time has come to close this location," the retailer posted on its website Friday morning. "We will still be here bigger and better than ever online, on the phone and in our other locations where we can serve the needs of today's customers more efficiently."

Light 'N Leisure also has locations in Kingston and Milford.

The retailer will be looking to sell off inventory from its 6,000-square-foot Danvers retail space with a loyal customer sale and general upcoming store-closing sale.
