DANVERS, MA — While Wednesday morning's snow provided little more than a dusting across the North Shore, the Danvers Departments of Public Works said the winter sprinkle is a good reminder to be prepared when things get wet and heavy in the months ahead.

The Danvers DPW issued a series of advisories to residents so that they do not get caught in violation of town ordinances this winter:

Basketball hoops and nets must be removed from streets/utility poles where they can be damaged during plowing activities/extreme weather conditions.

When shoveling this winter, do your part and clear snow from hydrants and catch basins. Do not put any sand/salt into storm drains, these lead to our waterways.

Do not shovel or place snow in the street or plow snow into or across the street or sidewalk.

Town ordinances state that it is the property owners’ responsibility to keep sidewalks clear of obstacles. Keep your sidewalks clear by pruning your plants/trees to allow passage.

Be mindful to keep vehicles off streets during snowstorms, when possible, even when the parking ban is not in place. This will make snow removal by the DPW more efficient.
