Danvers Winter Snow Emergency Parking Restrictions For 2023-24

The town is reminding residents what they must do if a ban is enacted.

The Danvers Department of Public Works is encouraging residents to plan in advance of any storms so they have a place to put their vehicles where they will not get ticketed and towed for being on a street.

DANVERS, MA — With the start of December comes the reality in New England that most likely, at some point, in the next couple of months there will be a major snowfall that requires a winter parking ban.

The Danvers Department of Public Works is encouraging residents to plan in advance of any storms so they have a place to put their vehicles where they will not get ticketed and towed for being on a street.

Danvers has two types of parking bans — a "full parking ban" that restricts on-street parking day or night, and an "overnight parking ban" that runs from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. The DPW said it will call for an overnight ban during "normal" storms, and reserve a full parking ban for severe storms.

The fine for violating a parking ban is $25, and the vehicle may be towed at the owner's expense.

During "normal" operations, a town-wide call will be made the evening before 7, with notification of the overnight parking ban. For "major" winter storms, a town-wide call will be made no later than six hours before the effective time, when possible.

Message boards displaying the parking ban notification will be placed on the main roads in town.

Patch will also post alerts of any parking restrictions or school closings as they are received.

Once announced, parking bans stay in effect until rescinded.
