Danvers Woman Threatened With Meat Cleaver, Raped: State Police

State Police said a Lawrence man was charged after the adult woman came to the Danvers barracks and reported the assault Wednesday morning.

DANVERS, MA — State police have charged a Lawrence man wanted for the rape of a woman in Danvers who told police she was held against her will and threatened with a meat cleaver during the assault.

State police said the woman reported the attack at the Danvers barracks on Wednesday morning and that an investigation led to the arrest of Rene Montes at his Methuen home on Thursday morning.

Police said the woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Montes was charged with aggravated rape, aggravated kidnapping, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
