Danvers Zero Waste Weekend Sees Record Breaking Attendance

Nearly 1,000 residents visited the Danvers Earth Day Zero Waste Recycling Weekend in May.

DANVERS, MA – The Danvers Earth Day Zero Waste Recycling Weekend saw 970 residents the first weekend in May, diverting all kinds of household items from landfills.

According to a post on the town website, at least 970 residents visited the event at least once, and many came back multiple times. Over $1,200 was raised for the Danvers Food Pantry at the paper shredding station.

Eight high school students and two cub scout packs volunteered at the event, which mostly residents mostly used to recycle electronics, metal, rigid plastics, and paper.

The town plans to hold another Zero Waste Recycling Weekend in the fall, on October 21 and 22.
