Garrett Lafata: Danvers Self Storage is a proud family-owned and operated self-storage facility in Danvers. We strive for great business relationships with our clients, built upon trust, consistent open communication and genuine concern for the safety and security of your property.

Patch: How long have you been doing business in town?
Garrett Lafata: Our facility opened up in June of this year, however our family has been in the service industry on the North Shore for over 35 years.


Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?
Garrett Lafata: Our family has been developing and managing industrial parks, medical facilities and commercial buildings for the past 35 years across the North shore. I had been working and managing storage facilities for the past several years and I have always been someone who enjoys customer interactions, so it was a natural progression into my dad and I making the decision to open our own.

Patch: What's the most common piece of advice you give to customers?
Garrett Lafata: Do your research and ask questions. Every storage facility may seem like the same but there are many differences, mainly rate increases.


Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Garrett Lafata: One of my favorite things about working in self-storage is the direct customer interaction and helping my tenants find the storage unit that perfectly fits their needs.


Patch: How would you say your business or organization distinguishes itself from the others?
Garrett Lafata: I would say the biggest difference between us and our competitors is our transparency. Most of the large brand stores will reel you in with low prices and special offers in the beginning but will increase your rent quickly and frequently. Sometimes these increases can be as often as 2-3 times a year and as high as 100%. Because we don't answer to a large corporation, we can set our own increases. With us, your rent is locked in for a year at a time and our increases will never exceed 5%.
