DANVERS, MA — A Marblehead boxing promoter is bringing the sweet science to the North Shore for a nine-bout card — including a Latino world title bout — at the Danversport Event Hall this coming Friday night.

Michael Reyes, a veteran of 80 amateur fights and gym owner in Marblehead, is presenting "Down & Dirty 7" — which he said will be the first night of professional boxing in Danvers in the recorded history of 11,887 bouts going back to 1878.

Reyes owns Hip Baby Gear in Lynnfield and Marblehead and has been involved with boxing since he found himself "faced with choices" as a teenager.

He told Patch he is thrilled to bring the shows to the North Shore for the first time on Oct. 27.

"The North Shore is our home," Reyes said. "Between our baby store Hip Baby Gear in Lynnfield and Marblehead, our gym in Marblehead, our non-profit youth program servicing Salem, Peabody, Lynn, Danvers, and Marblehead.

"And now our boxing promotion.or Reyes Boxing Promotions is one hundred percent on bringing great professional fights back to the North Shore. It's time to be the best."

The Down & Dirty 7 card features nine bouts, including a WBO Latino junior middleweight title clash.

Reyes said the card held in the 650-capacity event space will have a Halloween feel and is being billed as the "Scariest Boxing Event."

The main event will include 24-year-old Rodrigo Coria, of Argentina, in a bout against Brazil's Paulo Galdino for the 154-pound crown. Coria is coming off a win against previously unbeaten Marco Garcia for the title, while Galdino has a draw against 19-1-1 Mykquan Williams to his credit.
