Obituary: Gladys Marie (Ouellette) Graczyk

Gladys Marie Graczyk worked at St. John's Prep.

Danvers, MA - Gladys Marie (Ouellette) Graczyk, beloved wife of Clarence (Chuck) S. Graczyk, with whom she shared 63 loving years of marriage, left us peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Salem, on May 8, 1932, she was the daughter of Arthur and Sophie (Kobierski) Ouellette. After graduating from Salem High School in 1949, she earned her degree from Burdette College. She worked at A.C. Lawrence, The House of the Seven Gables, and St. John’s Preparatory High School.

Gladys and Chuck shared an extraordinary marriage and their love for each other laid the foundation for a close-knit and loving family. She was truly devoted to her family and was always involved with her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Gladys was a terrific cook and an exceptional seamstress, making everything from Halloween costumes to her daughter’s wedding dress.Gladys was predeceased by her beloved first son Carl Graczyk who passed in 1977. In addition to her husband, Gladys is survived by her four children, Debra Graczyk and her husband, John Galanis of Ipswich, Rona Graczyk- Femino and her husband, Leonard Femino of Beverly, Scott Graczyk and his wife, Michelle Graczyk of Fairfield, Conn., and Steven Graczyk of Danvers. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Carla Femino, Allyse Femino, Alyssa Galanis, Willem Galanis, Britta Galanis, Ana Graczyk, and Carl Graczyk, as well as her brother, Arthur Ouellette of Lecanto, Fla.

A celebration of Gladys’ life will be held at St. Mary’s of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant Street in Danvers, 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2016 followed by burial in St. Mary’s cemetery Salem. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gladys’ name to the Carl Graczyk Scholarship Fund at St. John’s Preparatory High School, 72 Spring Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
