Wind Storm Knocks Out Power In Danvers Wednesday Morning

The town said power was mostly restored - outside of isolated areas - after nearly 70,000 homes were in the dark at one point statewide.

DANVERS, MA — Many Danvers residents woke up in the dark Wednesday as a strong cold front brought high winds and sweeping rain to the North Shore.

The town said several streets were without power in the morning, including Conant Street, Poplar Street, High Street and Liberty. The town said there were also reports of several tree limbs down throughout Danvers.

The town said that by late morning power had been restored in the Back Bay and that only isolated outages remained.

According to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, there were 56,473 residences without power statewide as of about 10:30 a.m. There were nearly 70,000 without power at the peak of the outages mid-morning. Nearby towns also experienced extensive damage and power outages.

Easton had the most outages with 5,724 National Grid customers, or 57 percent of town, without power. In Swansea, 2,966 customers, or 40 percent of town, was without power. In Attleboro, 2,148 customers, or 11 percent of town, was without power.

One in five Stoneham households were without power, with 2,139 in the dark.
