After a reorganization and review of stock, the Blue Bunny Book and Toy Store, 577 High Street, in Dedham, donated a collection of books to all the Dedham Public Elementary Schools. Sister Barbara Lavin, Blue Bunny Volunteer School Liaison, brought the books to the school libraries in June.

Sister Barbara also brought donated books to the Epiphany School in Dorchester. Epiphany is an independent school for children of economically disadvantaged families in Boston, with scholarships for all.

Throughout this school year, The Blue Bunny also donated close to 100 Advance Reader books to Dedham High School. Advanced Reader is a free copy of a new book given by a publisher to booksellers, librarians, journalists before the book is printed for mass distribution. Advanced Readers cannot be sold to the general public, so donating them to the high school was a wonderful way of getting books into the hands of students to help improve their reading skills and comprehension.

Plans are already in the works for a visit by author Peter H. Reynolds to visit the Dedham Schools during the 2023-2024 school year where students will receive one of the children’s books written and illustrated by Peter.
