Dedham DPW Reminds Residents To Clear Basins Before Winter Storm

The first real winter storm of the season is expected to hit the region Saturday, bringing up to 7 inches of snow.

DEDHAM, MA — Dedham's Department of Public Works is getting ready for the incoming winter storm, but it could use some help from residents.

Dedham DPW told residents on Friday in a Facebook post, to clear the catch basins on their street to make street sweeping and possible plowing easier.

"With over 100 miles of road and more than 2000 catch basins we can always use some help," Dedham DPW said.

In Dedham, yard waste must be placed in paper yard waste bags or in open barrels and set curbside for collection on your regular recycling day from April 20 to Dec. 13. Dumping leaves onto sidewalks and basins can cause flooding and blockage.

The weather service said the snow will be heavy and wet, which will cause trouble on the roads and possible power outages.
