Dedham Police Arrest Suspect in September 14 Robbery

DEDHAM, MA - A joint effort led to the arrest of an Attleboro man suspected of an armed robbery on Whiting Ave. on Sept. 14.

DEDHAM, MA - An Attleboro man suspected of an armed robbery in Dedham last month was arrested yesterday in a joint effort by multiple police departments, the Dedham Police Department announced today.

The Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section arrested Jibrail Abdurrashid of Attleboro under a warrant. He was charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, and breaking and entering a vehicle.

The incident occurred on Sept. 14 at Whiting Ave. and River St., where the victim's vehicle was struck by another vehicle as he was traveling home from the Encore Boston Harbor Hotel and Casino at approximately 3:54 a.m.

The victim reported to police that several passengers from the other vehicle robbed him of an iPad, his wallet, cash and jewelry as they assaulted him.

An joint investigation ensured and involved police departments from Dedham, Boston, Quincy and Everett as well as the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, the Massachusetts State Police Department, and the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office. Their investigation led to an arrest warrant issued on Sept. 16 by Dedham District Court.
