Dedham's Salon Capri Participating In HAIRraising Cut-a-thon

DEDHAM, MA - Can a haircut have an impact on heart health? While most would say no, in New England the two are connected by HAIRraising, an annual salon fundraising campaign that supports the Boston Children's Hospital's Benderson Family Heart Center, in which Dedham's Salon Capri is participating.

Salon Capri in Dedham has been a proud participant this year in helping raise funds for the cause.

Born with a complex heart defect, 14-year-old Chauncy of Boston has been a long-time patient at Boston Children’s Hospital. From multiple operations to rebuild missing parts of her tiny heart, to moving organs and restoring vital connections, Boston Children’s heart experts have been a part of it all.

Now after a pacemaker and a fifth open-heart surgery this year, this outgoing, creative and accomplished student has begun her high school career thanks in part to the work of her team at Boston Children’s. As an expression of her gratitude, Chauncy and her family are encouraging people to get a haircut to help support the hospital.

Salons and beauty companies across Massachusetts and New Hampshire are coming together. Each haircut given at a participating salon will raise money for Boston Children's Hospital and its state-of-the-art Benderson Family Heart Center. The Benderson Family Heart Center is known for having some of the best success rates in the world, with surgical survival rates approaching 99 percent.

Now in its 12th year, HAIRraising has raised over $1 million for the Heart Center thanks to the support of salons and their clients.
