Dog Found Abandoned In Crate In 90 Degree Weather

Dedham Police are asking anyone with information on the dog to contact them due to the "cruel" nature in which the dog was left.

DEDHAM, MA — Dedham Police are asking the public for any information on the owner who abandoned a small dog in a crate with no water during the heat wave last weekend.

Police found a male Pomeranian estimated to be around three to five years old, inside a metal crate on the side of an East Dedham road around noon on Saturday.

Officers found no identification tags on the dog and said he was not microchipped. The dog was left with a blanket and sweater, but no food or water.

"This case is particularly disturbing due to the cruel manner in which the dog was abandoned -- locked in a crate without proper food, drink, shelter or protection from the weather," police said.
