State Troopers responded to the crash near the infield adjacent to the University Avenue exit in Westwood near the Dedham town line on I-95 north around 4:20 a.m. Saturday.

Police say they found the Toyota RAV4 flipped over into a flooded gully between the roadway and exit ramp, submerged in several feet of water.

When they got to the car, they say they entered the water to remove Samuel and Liam Fitzgerald, 27, of West Roxbury performing emergency medical aid to both.

Fitzgerald was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say evidence showed that Samuel consumed alcohol before driving and was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He was treated at a hospital and released later that day.
