Obituary: Sabino 'Sam' Celata, WWII Veteran, Florist

Services for Dedham native Sabino Celata will be Sunday, June 21.

Celata, Sabino J. “Sam” of Dedham formerly of Roslindale, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2015 after a brief illness.

He was the beloved husband of the late Benita (Hennessey) Celata. Devoted father of Joanne Jordan and her husband Dana of Canton, Suzanne Zagaski of Marstons Mills, John Celata of Northfield, NH, and the late Carleen Celata. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Brother of Alfred of Roslindale, Edward of Roslindale, Leonard of Milton, Albina Forte of Wrentham, Anne Marie Anderson of Woburn, Carol Caruso of Canton, and the late Robert, Richard, and Joseph.

He was raised in Roslindale and served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. Sam was a talented florist and the proprietor of the Conservatory of Flowers in Dedham. He loved his family, sailing, and politics. He will be greatly missed.

Visiting Hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM, Sunday, June 21 from 4-8pm. Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 420 High St., Dedham, Monday, June 22 at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
