DEDHAM, MA- With temperatures expected to reach the 90s through Friday, the Town of Dedham offered suggestions for ways to beat the heat.

"The Town does not have cooling stations open at this time," according to Amanda Smith, the town's public information officer. "We encourage residents to stay hydrated and to stay indoors when possible. If people must be outside, we strongly recommend everyone wear sunscreen and wear lightweight clothing."

She added residents should keep an eye on family, friends and neighbors who may be at higher risk for heat-related illnesses and to call 911 for immediate medical attention when needed.

In response to the soaring temperatures, the Dedham Housing Authority has opened community rooms with air conditioning available day and night at the Doggett Circle, O’Neil Drive and Parkway Court developments for their residents to keep cool and stay close to home.

"We also invite all residents and visitors to stop by the Dedham Public Library’s two locations to check out a new book or browse the extensive catalogs and programs available away from the heat," Smith added. "The Ames Senior Center is also open with air conditioning for those who want to stop by for a class or to check out what the Council on Aging has to offer."
