Storm Update: NWS Dials Back Forecast For Dedham

The National Weather Service's latest forecast says to expect less snow.

DEDHAM, MA — This week's storm is going to be one of the biggest of the season, according to the National Weather Service

The NWS has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Dedham, effective from March 14, 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Blizzard Watch has been canceled.

The area is projected to get 8-12 inches of snow. Forecasters expect snow to move in across the regional between 5-7 a.m. Tuesday morning. The snow will quickly become heavy with 2 to 4 inch per hour snowfall rates possible at times through Tuesday afternoon. There is some uncertainty with the chance of snow turning into rain or sleet during the evening, the NWS said.

During this period, many roads will be impassable and strong winds may lead to blowing and drifting snow, reduced visibility, and power outages. Near white-out conditions will be possible.

Winds of 20-35 mph with gusts of 55 mph are expected, the NWS said.
