Work On VFW Parkway, Route 1 Starts Tuesday

Work from Spring Street in West Roxbury to the Dedham Mall will cause lane closures.

From the Massachusetts Department of Transportation:

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced that it will be conducting overnight milling work on the VFW Parkway from Spring Street in Boston’s West Roxbury neighborhood to the Dedham line, and also, Providence Highway Dedham, from the Boston line to the Dedham Mall. The scheduled work begins on Tuesday night, May 29.

In order to allow crews to safely and effectively conduct these operations, intermittent lane closures will be implemented during overnight hours throughout this area. Through traffic will be allowed at all times. Work will begin in Boston at Spring Street on the VFW Parkway and proceed southward, transitioning into Dedham’s Providence Highway.

The full hours for this work are currently expected to be approximately 10 p.m., through 5 a.m. These operations are expected to be completed in approximately two weeks and are in advance of paving operations that will occur in the coming weeks.

MassDOT encourages drivers to be mindful of these potential impacts. Those traveling throughout the area should reduce speed and use caution. The schedule for this work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
