Get a Peek Into Framingham's History This Weekend

The Framingham History Center organized a self-guided tour of historical homes and a patron's dinner to kick it off.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - Take a tour through historical Framingham homes this weekend.

The self-guided tour, which was organized by the Framingham History Center, will take residents on a journey through the history of how the people of Framingham have lived throughout the centuries. The tour will take place on Sunday, May 15 from noon to 5 p.m.

The tour will include: a house built in 1696 that has been breathtakingly preserved because it has been in the same family for 252 years; a homestead built in 1705 that was most recently renovated to accentuate its Federal style architecture; a luxury home built in the 1980s; and arts-and-crafts style home that sits next to a pond; An 1812 boarding house rehabilitated by Wallace Nutting in the early 1900s; and refreshments at a repurposed schoolhouse built in 1839.

The booklet will list the home locations and give historical background. Participants are then free to explore the homes but must arrange for their own transportation. Parking instructions will be included in each description.

There will be a Patron’s Party and Celebration to kick off the tour on Saturday, May 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. Guests will get a complementary ticket to Sunday's house tour.

The night will include an elegant dinner in a post and beam barn that was decorated by the homeowner who is an award-winning designer. Guests will also have the opportunity to tour the Amos Gates house, which was built in 1730.

Dinner and hors d’oeuvres will be catered by Tasting Caterers and as always and there will be an open bar.
