The role of General Aviation nationwide is a leading one, and a vitally important one. At Beverly Regional Airport we are incredibly proud to play an important role in that story.

Where do the Majority of Take Offs and Landings Occur?
To better understand the scope of General Aviation, look at the following two statistics. Did you know that 75 percent of landings and takeoffs in U.S. airports occur on general aviation airports? That makes general aviation airports vital to commerce and transportation within the U.S.

According to Business Aviation, our country’s air transportation system consists of approximately 5,300 public use airports. Of which, only around 550 are served by commercial airlines which leaves a whopping 4,750 General Aviation Airports as the vast majority of U.S. Airports.

Why is This so Beneficial?
Business and commerce take place in far more areas than can be served by major commercial airports. In fact, major business is located in smaller towns and communities all over the country.

It’s commonplace for businesses to be headquartered an hour or more from the nearest major airport where scheduled flights are available. Enter the Regional Airports like us, that save businesses travel time and money while putting professionals closer to their actual destinations.

Convenience and accessibility are two major benefits that Beverly Regional Airport affords business travelers while General Aviation Airports all over the country provide the same.

Understanding the scope of General Aviation Airports helps to explain their critical role in travel, transportation, and infrastructure throughout the U.S.
