Earthquake Confirmed In Massachusetts

It appears to have been one of the strongest in Massachusetts in quite some time.

A relatively powerful earthquake in Southern New Hampshire was felt in the North Shore of Massachusetts Thursday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey confirmed.. The 2.7-magnitude earthquake was reported shortly before 9:30 a.m. and originated in East Kingston, N.H. It was felt at least as far south as Lynn, MA and at least as far north as Seabrook, NH.

No injuries or damage were reported.

The 2.7-magnitude measurement would make this one of the most powerful earthquakes in Massachusetts this century. The U.S. Geological Survey's records indicate this being the highest read on a Massachusetts earthquake since a 3.3-magnitude in Western Mass. in 2000.
