Hotel Offers Displaced Residents 'Rates Starting At $225'

The Beauport Hotel Gloucester apologized after a 'heartless' offer to those who were displaced following the Merrimack Valley explosions.

GLOUCESTER, MA — While at least one North Shore hotel was offering free rooms to those affected by Thursday's explosions and fires in the Merrimack Valley, another was offering the victims rooms for $225.

The Beauport Hotel Gloucester posted Thursday night on Facebook that it was "sorry to hear about our neighboring towns Andover, North Andover & Lawrence. For those who may need accommodations this evening due to being displaced, we are offering rates starting at $225. We hope everyone stays safe."

The post was deleted shortly after it was posted, but screenshots of it made the rounds on social media.
