Wenham Water Rates Go Up For Heavy Users

The bill for water used in February, March, and April will be more for people who use more than 75,000 gallons.

WENHAM, MA – After the Wenham Water Commission voted to add a new billing tier in December, water used in the current billing cycle (February, March, and April) will cost more for heavy users.

The new tier is specifically for households that use more than 75,000 gallons per quarter, starting with the May 2017 bill. More than 75,000 gallons per quarter will cost $16,50/1,000 gallons.

The notice of the rate increases said that the rate increase is meant to encourage water conservation, so there's "an adequate supply of safe water to meet day-to-day needs," and "a sufficient supply in the event of a fire or other catastrophic event."
