Malden Woman Awarded Greater Boston Food Bank’s Volunteer of The Year

Malden resident Kristin Ahlman has been volunteering at the GBFB for the last six years, clocking in over 185 hours of service.

MALDEN, MA – A Malden resident has been awarded by the Greater Boston Food Bank for her volunteering efforts.

Kristin Ahlman was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award, which is given to an individual who has made a significant impact on the food bank.

The Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and among the largest food banks in the country.

GBFB feeds people in 190 towns across the region, distributing the equivalent of nearly 90 million meals through a network of 600 dedicated food distribution partners and programs.

Ahlman has been volunteering at the GBFB for the last six years, clocking in over 185 hours of service.

She has worked to add labels; sort fresh produce, bread, and protein; and assemble food boxes for families who need them most.

“Volunteers like Kristin are the pulse of this organization,” Catherine D’Amato, president and CEO of The Greater Boston Food Bank, said in a news release. “It takes a very special person to dedicate their time for the betterment of their community – and Kristin is one of many, bringing a smile with her every time she is on site. We are tremendously thankful for her countless efforts to make a positive impact in the lives of our clients and our community.”
