MARLBOROUGH, MA — Drivers in Marlborough may run into detours this week with more construction at the I-290, I-495 interchange, meaning closed exit ramps.

The nightly detours began Sunday, with the ramps from I-290 eastbound and Route 85 westbound to I-495 Northbound  closed. The closures will happen each night this week starting at 10 p.m. and lasting until 5 a.m. the following day, with the ramps reopening on Friday morning for the final time.

Here's the detour MassDOT has set up during the work:

  • During the overnight work, drivers traveling on I-290 eastbound and Route 85 westbound looking to access I-495 northbound will be directed to take I-495 southbound and use exit 63A (Route 20 eastbound) to access I-495 northbound.

The ramp closures in Marlborough and Hudson aren't the only ones along I-495 this week. Ramps from both sides of the Mass Pike to southbound I-495 will also be closed in Westborough and Hopkinton amid an ongoing overhaul of the interchange between the two freeways.
