1 Dead, 2 Injured In Melrose Lynn Fells Parkway Crash

The crash took place around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday night, State Police said.

MELROSE, MA - A 41-year old Randolph man was killed after a late-night crash in Melrose on Sunday, State Police said on Monday morning.

A Saugus woman, 61, and a Saugus man, 46, both sustained minor injuries in the crash, which closed part of the Lynn Fells Parkway for roughly four hours, State Police confirmed.

The crash took place around 11:30 p.m. Police cited a preliminary investigation in saying a Mercedes sedan “traveling at a high rate of speed” crossed the centerline of the parkway and struck a Volkswagen Jetta.

The Mercedes, driven by the Randolph man, then veered into a tree, also hitting a pair of parked SUVs in a home on Lynn Fells Parkway, State Police said. Those cars were unoccupied at the time of the crash.

This crash took place near the intersection of the parkway and Elm Street.

The Randolph man died at the scene, according to State Police. Police did not share his name.

The two people from Saugus who were injured were both transported to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, State Police said.

The crash remained under investigation on Monday morning.
