Elsa Flooding Melrose Streets, Power Still On

The tropical storm is unleashing a downpour on the city.

MELROSE, MA — Tropical Storm Elsa is being felt in Melrose.

Mayor Paul Brodeur said on Twitter Friday afternoon that Lebanon and Sylvan streets are experiencing flooding and may need to be closed. Other flooded areas around the city may have detour signs.

Brodeur also reminded people they can call the Department of Public Works at 781-665-0142 and police at 781-665-1212 if they need help.

There are no power outages reported in Melrose as of 1 p.m. More than 8,000 power customers across Massachusetts are in the dark.

Some parts of the state are seeing major flooding. Melrose is under a flash flood warning until 4 p.m.
