Free COVID Tests Available In Melrose

MELROSE, MA — Melrose residents can pick up a new batch of free COVID-19 home test kits beginning this week, the city Health and Human Services Department announced on Wednesday.

The department has iHome COVID-19 test kits available at its offices in City Hall at 562 Main Street.

Community members can visit to get a test during office hours, which run Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday hours run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

City officials noted this week that expiration dates on tests have changed relative to their posted dates. Individuals can now scan a QR code on the back of their test to receive an updated expiration date that has been extended beyond the initial date.

As Melrose circulates COVID-19 tests, community members still needing a coronavirus vaccine or booster have a unique local opportunity with an added reason to get their shot.

The state recently announced a batch of clinics with $75 incentives for all patients. The state Department of Public Health is running the program, offering a $75 gift card to anyone getting a booster or vaccine.

Participating vaccine clinics stretch across the Massachusetts, with several planned in Malden over the coming weeks.
